Although Sri Lanka is now a fan favourite for avid travellers, Colombo often gets overlooked. However, Colombo has so much to offer with its fair share of history, culture, and even wildlife! Here are a few things that you must do in Colombo.

Colombo Fort

Colombo Fort is one of the most special places in the city; it is in the heart of the city and just a stone’s throw away from the World Trade Center and other financial buildings, however, Fort feels like it is from another time. Now dwarfed by skyscrapers of international hotels, Fort remains in their shadows, unchanged… neither the buildings nor the way of life have changed much since they were first built, making it feel like if you’ve entered a different world when you visit. While you’re there you should look at all the old colonial buildings- the Old Post Office and the Queen’s House are lovely to look at from outside- as well as the old Cargills Building and the Jami Ul-Alfar Masjid, both of which are painted brick red with bursts of white.
